Expedition Training: well done on winning the District ET and competing at the Area competition. Six pictures here

BCU 1 Star Course: well done to the St Albans Cadets who joined this district course run by St Albans Staff member. See picture library here

National Regetta, Royal Victoria Dock: well tried to Jake and Hugo for competing in the doubles canoe marathon, no medals but you are still in the top 7 of the country!

TS Raleigh - well done to the cadets who went on the trip from Brixham to Gosport. Account and hopefully pictures here soon.

13-15 July Area Canoeing & Combined Regatta Nottingham, well done all. We came 3rd out of 9 districts and Hughes and Earle won the doubles and are through to the National finals.
Special thanks to CI Nash who was duty staff and on duty for 4 hours from 4am on Saturday and Sunday mornings, without commitment like this the weekend wouldn't have been possible!

30 June District Swimming. We won 75% of the races - well done all!

Easter Kayaking: 2 Star Course and Assessment - 8 pass well done! Plus some advanced training at Nene Whitewater Centre

Seamanship Competition: we didn't win overall but did win two of the stances so congratulations to the team for that

First Aid: RYA / SCC 3rd Class. 9 cadets and 2 staff passed on Saturday 3rd March. Nice work!

Marine Cadets Winning Ways - a great start to 2007!

Drill Team - well done the Marines for winning your section of the Area Competition this weekend. Well done to the Sea Cadets for coming 4th - great result from you all. Thank you for all the dedicated training and practice. See pictures here

Annual Inspection: Good turn out, well done all. Congratulation to the whole unit - we won a burgee again, making us a top 20% unit. The picture here on the right is Commander Kent presenting us with the burgee (for the previous year, 2006). The Mayor also honored us with her presence.

Congratulations to the Shooting Team on a great performance.

Congratulations to the Drill Team on winning District Drill. Well done, all the practice was worthwhile!

New Marine Cadet Detachment Area - check it out!

HMS St Albans was at the Excel Boat Show, staff visited and then 20 cadets spent a (free) day at the show and had a tour of the ship. Two cadets then sailed with her back to Portsmouth and were driven back in the Mayor of St Albans' limousine (thank you Mrs Mayor!)
There is a RYA VHF Radio course next Saturday with 4 going from the unit. Well done: all 4 passed!

Half Term Week: Three cadets went to The Welsh Harp and passed RYA Performance Sailing dinghy module.Three went to SCTC Raleigh, Plymouth doing the fun cadet general training course - read the Account Here

19 October: Local tri service competition. Totally new activity - going through a cage in a pool. Got wet and had great fun but didn't win this time. Pictures here.

Trainee Instructor completes week long SCIQ (Sea Cadet Instructor Qualifying) course at HMS Excellent and passes. Can you spot him in the group picture?

7/8 October: District Multi Activity weekend with courses in Seamanship, Piping, Cook/Steward and Writer/Stores (office administration). 17 St Albans Sea Cadets attended and most passed, well done, and a big thank you to the instructors, who give their time for free.
Also cadets were in action at the London Area Boating Stations with RYA Powerboat Level 2 courses at Victoria Dock and RYA Dinghy Seamanship Modules at Welsh Harp.

30 Sept / 1 October: SRMO's - Marine Cadets field craft inspection. Well done, 3rd in Eastern Area and a top commendation   Also see pictures here of pre SRMO practice. Drill so good they've been invited to forthcoming national Trafalgar Parade in London.

Saturday 9th Sept Area Swimming - well done all swimmers!

HELP! We desperately need help with the galley for stand easy. Just 45 minutes would cover running the modest little sweet shop - could you do it just once a fortnight or month? All the staff are volunteers and parents/guardians, we really need your support on this one. Please!
Mowing: we could also do with help on this rota.

Tallships Race: Kat and Flo sailed the 800 miles non-stop to Lisbon in 9 day 57 minutes aboard the sea cadets flagship TS Royalist, coming 6th in class and 22nd overall (from a fleet of 68 ships). Great effort and both girls qualified as SCC Offshore Watch Leaders. As well as sailing they swam, fished and saw dolphins.
