St Albans Sea Cadets Celebrate Success

St Albans Sea Cadets celebrated success last week (27th February) at their annual unit inspection.

Sea Cadet Hertfordshire District & Deputy District Officers, Lt Margaret Coats (SCC) RNR visited St Albans unit and after ensuring the stores and paperwork was in order inspected the cadets who were wearing best uniforms.

Following the formal inspection Lt Coates presented cadets with some of the awards for the year.

Jack Day Award for Best Cadet went to 17 year old Leading Cadet Jake Hughes.

The Award for Best Marine Cadet went to Cadet Corporal Callum Wales (17) who also picked up the Eastern Area Marksman Award

The Award for the Herts District Best Shot was awarded to Cadet Demi Jueno –Chapman (15).

Marine Cadets Stephen Buck & Ben Lansdown were also awarded runner up prizes for the Eastern Area Shooting Competition.               

Other awards and achievements will be presented at the Annual General Meeting in September.

 Lt Cdr Grayham Waylett (SCC) RNR, Commanding Officer at the St Albans unit thanked the inspecting officer and spoke of his plans for the year ahead including more boating & outdoor activities.

Life at St Albans Sea Cadets is serious fun and we welcome boys and girls aged 10 to 18 who want to learn more about kayaking, shooting, windsurfing, sailing, drill, camping/survival, first aid & orienteering and much more.

We meet Tuesday & Friday evenings 7pm behind Westminster Swimming pool and we invite those interested to just turn up and say hello.

We are also keen to hear from any adults who want to help out either instructing or behind the scenes in admin or in the galley.
