Once again St Albans Sea Cadets were proud to provided the armed
sentry/guard at the war memorial in St Peters St as St Albans came
to a standstill during the Remembrance Day Service (8th
November).
This year the honour fell to two 16 year old’s - Leading Cadet
George Threadgold and
Leading Cadet Jake Hughes under the direction Chief Petty Officer
Ray Gosling (SCC).
As with tradition, throughout the service, the cadets remained
heads bowed and rifles upturned, barrels resting on their toes.
Leading Cadet Threadgold, said: "It’s a great honour and privilege
to be chosen to act as the guard on such a day"
Leading Cadet Hughes echoed these sentiments adding: ”Its right we
commemorate those who have fallen for their country "
Following the service, the parade departed, marching through St
Peters St. with Sea Cadets (aged 10 – 17) & staff from St Albans Sea
Cadets forming part of the parade to the applause of the hundreds of
people who had turned up in remembrance of those who had given all
for their country.
Lt Cdr Dave Nice, Commanding Officer of St Albans Sea Cadets said:
“As ever the cadets & staff on parade were a credit to the Sea
Cadet Corps”
