Boot Polishing
Herewith method for boot polishing as instructed by C.P.O. R.J. Gosling - Unit Coxswain. So pay attention!
You will need
- two brushes (one large and one small)
- tin of black boot polish (you should make sure you have a little water in the lid of the tin)
- a clean duster
You first thoroughly brush the boots to ensure there is no dirt or dust on them paying particular attention to the welts.
Then with the small brush you apply polish to the whole boot. When dry brush off with the large brush.
With your clean duster wrapped round your forefinger you then proceed as follows - dip your duster into the polish and rub in small circles on the toes and heels of the boot until you start to get a shine, dip duster in water to dampen cloth (do not make it soaking wet) and keep applying more polish as directed above until the toes and heels of the boots are shining bright.
Do not try and do this just before you leave for parade, it will take quite some time to do it right.
Note: the term spit and polish has ben avoided in the name of political correctness!!!!
